Our Story

How We Met

In February of 2009, Rachael's little sister in Gamma Phi Beta, Krista, told her that a friend from home, Eric, would be her roommate in the fall at Florida State. Krista knew Rachael would love him because "he was tall and liked O.A.R." Those qualities were must-haves for Rachael.

In fall of 2009, Rachael went over to Krista and Eric's house to play games and hang out. Rachael and Eric were put on a team together, and to break the ice, Rachael commented, "I hear you like O.A.R." Eric responded, "No. I hate them." To know Rachael is to know her obsession and deep love for the band, so Eric was suddenly moved to the short list of people to forget about.

Nevertheless, the night proceeded and, after talking some more, an interest outside of jam bands developed. To this day, Eric has attended 4 5 O.A.R. shows with Rachael and now they're getting married. Eric still doesn't love jam bands.

The Proposal

Eminently practical, Rachael and Eric booked a wedding venue and date before they were officially engaged.

The "real" proposal took place on Rialto Beach in Washington on October 2, 2015. After hiking all day, Rachael and Eric planned to take in the sunset on the beach just outside of Forks. After walking the beach and looking for a place to sit, they found a perfect piece of driftwood as tall as Eric. While the sun was setting, Eric asked for "just one more selfie." As they stood up, Eric dropped to one knee and proposed just in time for the sky to turn red.

She, of course, said yes.
